Speaker: Mack Munro
Bio: Mack Munro is a writer, artist, and storyteller who spent 25 years as a management consultant, educator, and speaker, helping leaders and organizations navigate the complexities of people, culture, and communication.
Drawing on thousands of hours working with organizations across the globe, Mack combines practical insights with humor, candor, and real-world stories. He is the author of several books on leadership, personal development, and storytelling.
Today, he focuses on writing, speaking, and creating art, all centered on one core idea: helping people see familiar challenges from a fresh perspective. When he’s not writing or speaking, he enjoys making art and pottery, a pastime he finds far more relaxing than explaining workplace dysfunction to senior management.

Topic: How to Leverage Your Power and Influence and Become an HR Superhero
HR superheroes aren’t born, they’re built. This session explores how HR professionals can strengthen their impact by effectively using two essential toolkits: Power (driving action) and Influence (guiding decisions).
Through real-world examples, participants will learn how to leverage sources of power, apply practical influence strategies, and strengthen three key capabilities: Organizational Awareness, Individual Awareness, and Relationship Management. These skills help HR professionals build credibility, navigate organizational dynamics, influence culture, and become stronger strategic partners.
Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to increase their influence, enhance organizational impact, and elevate how both employees and leaders view the HR function.

Aligned with SHRM competencies in Relationship Management, Communication, Ethical Practice, Business Acumen, and Consultation.

Three Learning Objectives:
I- Identify and apply key sources of power and influence available to HR professionals to build credibility, gain support, and move people toward action.
II- Strengthen Organizational Awareness, Individual Awareness, and Relationship Management to navigate workplace dynamics, build strategic alliances, and increase HR’s organizational impact.
III- Select and use appropriate influence strategies to communicate effectively, speak truth to power, champion initiatives, and shape decisions even when HR lacks formal authority.
