NYS SHRM 2026 Advocacy Day – Strong Showing, Even in a Blizzard

Even with a major winter storm forcing us to pivot from in-person meetings in Albany to a fully virtual format, NYS SHRM’s 2026 Advocacy Day on February 24th, was a tremendous success.

Our SHRM volunteers showed professionalism, flexibility, and true leadership, quickly adapting to a remote format while maintaining a full schedule of legislative meetings. Throughout the day, members engaged lawmakers and staff in thoughtful discussions on responsible AI policy, strengthening education-to-employment pathways, and expanding access to untapped talent pools. Legislators were receptive and appreciative of the practical, real-world workforce perspective our HR professionals bring to policy conversations.

While we missed gathering together in Albany, we proved something important: NYS SHRM’s advocacy voice is strong, unified, and resilient. Thank you to every member who stepped up, represented our profession with excellence, and demonstrated that even a blizzard can’t stop SHRM from showing up for New York’s workplaces.
