Join SHRMBC for a 4-hour workshop designed to help HR professionals, supervisors, and organizational leaders navigate today’s evolving workplace challenges with confidence and integrity. Part I, " The EEOC and the HR Professional: Preventing Discrimination, Managing Risk, and Responding Effectively," provides an overview of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the important role HR professionals play in supporting fair, respectful, and legally compliant workplaces.

This program will cover federal employment laws enforced by the EEOC, along with common concerns involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and pay. We’ll also discuss workplace complaints, investigations, and accommodation requests, including disability, religious, and pregnancy-related accommodations.

Part II shifts beyond compliance into the critical role of ethics in leadership and decision-making. Through interactive discussions, real-life dilemmas, and engaging scenarios, participants will explore how to navigate workplace gray areas, balance organizational objectives with employee fairness, and lead with transparency, accountability, and trust. This session is especially valuable for HR professionals and leaders seeking to strengthen ethical decision-making and confidently manage sensitive workplace situations.

For SHRM- and HRCI-certified attendees, the ethics portion fulfills the ethics certification requirement. This workshop is eligible for 4 SHRM and HRCI credits.

Kimberly S. Davis | Ogletree Deakins

Kimberly is an employment law attorney who enjoys helping clients navigate workplace challenges with practical, effective solutions. Her practice focuses on DOL/VETS and USERRA matters, EEOC charge defense, employment litigation, workplace investigations, and general employment counsel. Known for her collaborative and client-focused approach, Kimberly works closely with employers to manage risk and translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance.

Kimberly earned her B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from Auburn University and her J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law. Outside of work, she enjoys being a new mom, spending time with her family, cooking, watching Auburn football, and taking her terrier mix, Julio, to the park.
